Taichung School Lunch Parent Symposium to be Held on August 30, Caring for Children's Food Safety
Out of 365 days a year, children eat lunch at school for about 200 of them. In Taichung, China alone, about 400,000 students eat school lunches. The safety of the lunch ingredients children eat at school needs parents' attention and can no longer be ignored!
Following its first school lunch forum held in May, the Taichung Chapter of the Homemakers United Foundation will hold a second school lunch forum on the afternoon of 8/30 (Sat). This time, parents from the greater Taichung area are invited to attend, and participants will also have the chance to visit school lunch suppliers together to learn about the lunch supply situation!
At this forum we have invited a school lunch secretary, a retired principal, and parents with experience participating in school lunch matters to share their insights, so everyone can understand what food safety loopholes exist in the lunches children eat at school. At the same time, you can learn how to communicate with the school during the parent-teacher meeting on the school day at the beginning of the semester, so that your child's school lunch safety can be upgraded once more!
The food safety issues involved in school lunches include: pesticide and veterinary drug residues, additives in processed foods, genetically modified foods, food container safety… and more. Parents will be able to grasp and understand where the problems lie all at once during the meeting!
