"mamu (grandma), hello!" "Hello, hello."

This is Pisirian, and before our eyes is a cheerful girl with skin as dark as a surfer's, greeting the elders of the tribe. She is Huang Yuan-jung, nicknamed "Da Yuan," currently the project manager of the Pisirian workstation of the Environmental Information Association (abbreviated as Huan Zi).

Originally a girl from Taipei, she came alone to Taitung 8 years ago and worked on farms, construction sites, and as a community development officer, among other jobs. Her current work is to connect environmental education and environmental policy with the tribe. Her duties cover everything under the sun, from tribal interaction and friendly farming to oral surveys of traditional territories, all part of her routine work.

Like other remote rural areas, Chenggong Township, whether Indigenous or Han, suffers from population outflow, and residents have long been accustomed to using pesticides and herbicides to save labor. Promoting friendly farming is not only dismissed as "empty talk" but even regarded as a "troublemaking group." Da Yuan works in the fields, learns the Amis language, and uses "no funsia (spraying)" and "no sabayu (medicine)" instead of the spoken terms "growing organic" and "no pesticides," showing her determination to integrate into the local area.
