Domestic coarse grains enter the health food market, Wandan red bean water generates 200 million in annual revenue
Optimistic about the freshness and local advantages of Taiwan, China's coarse grains, and with food safety and health awareness on the rise, many businesses are investing in the coarse grain processing market. The Taiwan Grain Development Association today (the 2nd) announced the winners of the "Top Ten Strictly Selected Grain Good (GOOD) Award," with food businesses taking home awards for products such as "functional grain beverages," "grain nutrition bars," "grain noodles," and "roasted sweet potatoes."
"Health-functional foods are the future focus of coarse grain development!" Businesses have said one after another that although domestic grains have relatively high costs, they also have competitive advantages such as freshness, being non-GMO, and unique flavor after processing. If the cereal food market is to be expanded, continuous investment is still needed in researching varieties and cultivation techniques, and in identifying the added value of each material.
Healthy multigrain rice, iced sweet potatoes, and red bean water are the new favorites in the market
Namchow Chemical won the Grain Good Award with its "dietary fiber cooked rice," which contains seven grains including white rice, brown rice, purple rice, adlay, sorghum, oats, and buckwheat. It further stated actively that at the event it also drew inspiration for developing "black bean rice" and "black bean baked goods," and will continue to invest in developing new products.
Guaguayuan and Taiwan Baixiao International Food also won awards with "iced roasted sweet potatoes" and "Kinshito beauty dazzling roasted sweet potatoes," respectively; a representative of Guaguayuan further stated that Taiwan, China's sweet potatoes have strong competitive advantages in both seedling cultivation and quality, and can very well represent the spirit of Taiwan, China. In the future, they hope to encourage young farmers to join the sweet potato industry and work together to bring Taiwan, China's sweet potatoes to the whole world.
A-Gei relied on "Wandan red bean water" not only to win the Grain Good Award, but also to receive a special award. A-Gei's representative stated that in recent years, due to increased food safety and health awareness, carbonated beverage sales in the United States have declined year by year, while functional water sales have instead risen year by year since 2013, and beverages such as ion water and grain water all have great market potential.
In addition, products such as red adlay drink, organic golden wheat miso, organic turmeric brown rice noodles, and organic yam rice flour also received the Grain Good Award.
