Sweet Potato Harvest 2013: Final Round of Registration for Yunlin Erlun Original Flavor Sweet Potato Farm

Do you like eating sweet potatoes? Do you know how to harvest sweet potatoes? The sweet potato harvest season runs from around December each year to April of the following year. Every field has its own growing methods, soil and yield. At the Original Flavor Sweet Potato Farm in Erlun Township, Yunlin County, under the careful tending of Mr. Straw and his family, this season each meter of field holds about 8-10 sweet potato plants, and each plant has about 4-8 sweet potatoes of varying sizes ready to harvest. But because they farm organically, without spraying pesticides, chemical fertilizers or herbicides, some of the sweet potatoes are contributed to the mouse friends in the field, and some are diseased with "off-flavor" and cannot be harvested.

To coexist with nature and also give consumers a guarantee, they spend a great deal of manpower and effort maintaining sweet potato quality and a sustainable ecological environment. They hope more people will come in person to the growing area, step onto the good field where delicious sweet potatoes are grown, meet the sweet potato farmers who work so hard, work alongside the farmers, and enjoy sweet potatoes they picked themselves - the sweetest of all!

Who can join: Adults and children who want to get close to the land and experience harvesting sweet potatoes

Event fee: 300 yuan per person, 200 yuan per child under 6
Includes activities, insurance, snacks (vegetarian), and each person can take home organic sweet potatoes from one meter of field
Number of participants: 50
Please bring: eco-friendly bowls and chopsticks, gloves, a hat, and an eco-friendly bag for the sweet potatoes

Event schedule:

14:00 Gather at the Original Flavor Sweet Potato Farm plaza
14:00-14:30 Get to know each other, walk to the sweet potato field located on the high floodplain of the Zhuoshui River
14:30-16:30 Mr. Straw introduces sweet potatoes, shares harvesting tips, and everyone picks sweet potatoes!
16:30-17:30 Walk back, snack time, head home
