Ruan's Kids Green Island-Wide Tour arrives at Jinshan Station
Prologue
Love Taiwan, green round-island trip, and I have already reached the first stop, where surprising changes have begun to happen. To be honest, I had cycled around the island before, but this time I decided to travel in depth, going to various farms to experience a long stretch of time.
Round-island first stop: Jinshan, Taipei (The Boy Who Cried Wolf)
At the first stop, the owner of the farm "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" was currently preparing old-dough steamed buns. After getting a detailed understanding, he kneads the fermented dough to create an even newer texture; it tastes very chewy (Q), and I can eat three at a time. Maybe it really is just that delicious
I am not clear how long old-dough steamed buns have been popular; to an outsider like me, it is very intriguing. In the future he wants to useorganic and natural-farming ingredients to give the steamed buns their texture such as pumpkin/carrot/sesame/turmeric/sweet potato/goji berry/coffee/almond/yam/mugwort/ramie/roselle/beetroot/taro/mulberry leaf and so on supporting small farmers who treat the land well!
Completely pesticide-free and distinctive, though during that month I mostly helped clean the steamed bun machine. Still, I began to feel curious about organic and natural farming: natural farming uses no fertilizer and no chemicals, completely natural. There was already turmeric growing well in the field; once, when using yam, I mixed turmeric with rice to eat, and the flavor was really great and fragrant.
The five colors come from the ingredients listed above, with black, yellow, red, white, and green such5 colors!
At this stop I learned what natural farming is, conventional farming, and organic farming, and I also understood more clearly the relationship between the land and people. We must love the land more. Go Taiwan!
The most unforgettable thing
On the second day at the farm, it was drizzling slightly. The farm owner said staying indoors too long would make us feel stuffy, so we went out for a walk. After putting on rain boots and heading out, oh my, I could not believe what was in front of me: we were going to cross through a bunch of grass taller than a person. That was the most extraordinary thing.
The first time weaving through the grass, it felt very special. In order to deal with the weeds, I spent some days there mowing grass. I originally thought mowing grass was such a simple thing: just don't hit yourself and know how to start it. The owner even saidNo No rainy days are the best time to mow grass, because the dust will not fly up. It is very special here, and I like it a lot. I think I have been bitten by the nature bug, so on to the next leg of the journey to Nan'ao.
