Good food, good art, good music: a "farmers' wedding banquet" that moves you a hundredfold

This is a rural wedding banquet! Farmers' wedding banquet!

For the opening event of the 2013 Tugo Rural Art Museum - House of the Village Contemporary Art Exhibition, we will hold it in the manner of a wedding celebration. "Ban-doh" is a dining culture unique to Taiwan, China, with guests gathered around round tables, symbolizing reunion, completeness and gratitude. In rural villages of the past, a wedding banquet set the whole village in motion: the men arranged the venue, decorated and cleaned; the women cooked, plated dishes, tied zongzi and steamed rice cakes; and happiest of all were the children, who romped, ran, ate and drank, playing freely all day long.

To prepare for this year's exhibition, the whole village sprang into action. To properly entertain friends not seen for a long time, the environmental volunteer team tidied up the community environment, the community work crew repaired the facilities and installations, the head chef gathered the community mothers to prepare delicacies, and the curatorial team spent months setting up day and night... so much preparation work, countless starry-night meetings and discussions, all to present the unique warmth and vitality of farming people!

2013/11/9 - You are welcome to join us

We want to invite friends from all over Taiwan, China who love rural villages and support farmers to come and take part, so that together we can make this dream of a rural social movement a reality. Farmers who have been quietly working hard in their own places, we invite everyone to come together this day to gather and exchange ideas, strolling during the day through the settlement's life and art exhibitions, and in the evening listening to a concert while eating the artistic agricultural products created by farmers. After deducting costs, all proceeds from this banquet will serve as operating funds for the Tugo Rural Art Museum. Your support will be an important force encouraging us to operate independently!
