Rice Harvest Working Holiday: Come to Longjin Golden Harvest Month as an Organic Farmer
Rice has always been at the heart of traditional rural society. Flip through a farmers' almanac and it is not hard to see that people's lives always revolved around it,
when to sow, when the grain would form, when to harvest... these were once the things people cared about most.
As times changed and industries transformed, many children of the younger generation eat rice yet do not know the price of rice,
and have never set foot in a rice paddy, gradually growing further and further from the land;
The Tang dynasty poet Li Shen wrote a most famous verse: "Hoeing grain in the midday sun, sweat drips into the soil beneath the grain. Who knows that the meal on the plate, every single grain is hard-won."
We recited it since childhood, yet did not truly understand or grasp its flavor,
This time the Kending National Park Headquarters held the "Dragon Gold Years - Organic Rice Harvest Experience Vacation,"
and the most important thing was the hope of rediscovering the connection and emotion between people and the land, and sharing the joy of the harvest.
So just what did the friends who took part do? What did they experience? Take a look at our introduction!
Day1
On the first day of the event, the community guide shared the community's stories with everyone and we enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the way,
and experienced the fun of feeling for freshwater clams in the earthen ditch beside the rice-growing area,
The children were all delighted to see the stream, playing in the water and exclaiming, "The water here is so clean!"
Of course it is~
Because the Longshui community uses organic rice farming, spraying no pesticides and caring for the land in the most natural way,
and with little disturbance nearby, the stream water is naturally clean and biodiversity is very rich.
Here, we thank the community residents for their efforts, and thank every friend for their enthusiastic participation,
and, like a farmer, thank heaven for letting all the activities go smoothly,
and we hope to have the chance to see everyone come to the countryside for the experience again!
