Taipei City inspection: Beihai feed lard affects downstream products; Ka Hao scallion oil pastry, Zhenxiang Shandong scallion pancake and others taken off shelves

The Taipei City Government Department of Health received notice from the Changhua County Department of Health on the evening of yesterday (the 4th) that the "scallion oil pancake" product manufactured and sold by Hejiaxiang Food Co., Ltd. from January 9, 103 to August 30, 103 had used the problematic lard produced by Beihai Oil & Fat Co., Ltd. in 103. In order to investigate the removal of related products from chain retail channels, that same evening it immediately ordered RT-Mart Distribution Co., Ltd., Yuanbai Enterprise Co., Ltd., Carrefour Co., Ltd., PX Mart Co., Ltd., Songqing Commercial Co., Ltd., San Shang Hang Co., Ltd. and President Chain Store (7-net) and other channels to remove them from shelves.
The Taipei City Government Department of Health tallied today that all channels have removed from shelves 5,950 packs of "Kahao Scallion Oil Pie (3 pieces)", "Sanyuan Scallion Hand-Grab Pancake", "Zhenxiang Shandong Scallion Oil Pancake (10 slices)" and "Zhenxiang Handmade Jade Hand-Grab Pancake", totaling 1,966.86 kg; RT-Mart Distribution Co., Ltd. removed 754 packs of "FP Selected Fried Scallion Crisp", totaling 339.3 kg; Yuanbai Enterprise Co., Ltd. removed 292 packs of "Best Value Scallion Hand-Grab Pancake", totaling 140.16 kg; President Chain Store (7-net) no longer has any "scallion oil pancake" inventory. The above totals 6,996 packs of 6 products removed and recalled, totaling 2,446.32 kg. In addition, Taipei City has continued to remove from shelves Beihai Oil & Fat Co., Ltd.'s "Xinwanxiang Traditional Fragrant Lard (15 kg pack)", reaching 460 barrels, totaling 6,900 kg.
The Taipei City Government Department of Health called on food businesses: manufacturers that use Beihai Oil & Fat Co., Ltd.'s 6 problematic oil products as raw materials to make food should remove them from shelves before 12 midnight on November 7, and should also report the removed product names and quantities to the Department of Health. According to Article 7 of the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation, when food businesses discover that a product may endanger health and safety, they should proactively stop manufacturing, processing, and selling it and carry out recalls.
