The world's first "food blockchain traceability system" is officially online! Food e-commerce platform OwllTing Market is the first to introduce "blockchain" technology into a food traceability system, and has partnered with two manufacturers, Xiangpu Industrial and Yongsheng Ocean, to build a demonstration model; OwllTing founder Wang Junkai repeatedly stressed that blockchain has the characteristic of being "tamper-proof," which increases the credibility of the information, "making the food traceability system more trustworthy."

Yongsheng Ocean: The "traceability system" should be driven by the private sector and supervised by the government

"People in society now all feel that 'establishing a traceability system' is the government's job." Xu Chengyu pointed out that although he himself used to firmly believe this, "I found that this is wrong." Observing that all the world's major systems have been successfully driven by the private sector, with the government only responsible for supervising and managing whether the system conforms to "good traceability system specifications"; but the current Taiwan government has taken the traceability system upon its own shoulders, "this is very dangerous, because possibly no one in the whole world does it this way."

Wang Junkai also pointed out that the government still currently uses traditional centralized databases, and as the volume of data gradually grows, its management and maintenance costs will rise accordingly; but if it is driven by the private sector, it is different, "we are a technology company, these system upgrade and maintenance costs are inherently our necessary costs, but we bear the costs and will also profit from it." Moreover, because the nodes of each blockchain block are mutually encrypted and linked, there is no need to keep adding walls to maintain information security, and costs will all be kept under control.

"We are now just providing a set of possible new approaches." Wang Junkai said that starting with these demonstration partner manufacturers, society and the government can see whether this system is feasible, and even whether it can be expanded in application.
