GiveMeFive (Jimmy No. 5) variety introduction
On August 10 and 11, the "Jimmy No. 5 - Give Me Five Experience" rural experience for 31 schoolchildren from Xiangtan Elementary School in Pingtung has come to a close. The itinerary included ecological guided tours and food education, among other activities, which not only combined education with fun but also promoted local culture.
This event was organized by the Taiwan Public Welfare CEO Association, and jointly carried out by the "Jimmy No. 5" team and Shiyishi Garden Coffee. The "Jimmy No. 5" team is a team formed to improve Shiyishi Garden Coffee in Gukeng, Yunlin, consisting of RIG members Chiu Yi-jung, Wei Yu-lin, Lin Da-jin, Fu Lin-chao, and Lu Ming-hsin, winners of the "CITA Agricultural Improvement Case Competition"; students from the Department of Horticulture at National Chiayi University, Shen Shih-wei, Tseng Ching-hsiang, Li Chi-han, Tseng Yi-ting, and Lin Chin-hsien, who formed the "Green Chiayi Garden" team; and Hsu Chia-tung, a student from the Department of Business Administration at Fu Jen Catholic University. "Jimmy No. 5" is taken from the English phrase "Give Me Five," hoping to use its meaning of a high-five for encouragement to convey the spirit and culture of rural areas. At the same time, it is hoped that through the "Jimmy No. 5 - Give Me Five Experience" itinerary, people can be given a different all-around experience through the five senses.
Rural wisdom is so much fun, rural ecology is so rich
Amid laughter and joy, time always flies. During the two-day, one-night itinerary, the children gained knowledge through ecological guided tours and food education. The Dapu Community ecological guided tour included visiting an ecological trail, a dragonfly restoration ecological garden, the Two Suns Wetland, and a coffee ecological garden. Through explanations by volunteer guides, folding leaf boats, turning water wheels, knowledge quizzes, and other activities, the children got close to nature and learned about the ecological environment, with education and play going hand in hand.
