Ting Hsin's Vietnam oil downstream products self-reported 11 items, all expected to be reported back before 6 PM tonight
After Ting Hsin's lard products were taken off the market, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) again sent a letter to Vietnam regarding the beef tallow exported by Ta Han Hsing, asking the Vietnam representative office whether this beef tallow was food-grade; however, after asking four times by text message, the FDA received no response at all. On 10/20, the FDA once again urgently requested a response from Vietnam, but received no reply. In response, on the 21st the FDA carried out a full precautionary removal from the market of products made from Ting Hsin's imported beef tallow, announcing the 8 products made from Ting Hsin's imported beef tallow, and requiring the manufacturers using them to report voluntarily. At present, health bureaus across the country are compiling the figures and are expected to have reported all of them by six o'clock this evening. As of noon today, the manufacturers' products that have been reported are shown in the table below.
In mid-September, the FDA sought confirmation from Vietnam as to whether the lard products were food-grade, and on 10/9 received a reply from the representative office in Vietnam stating that Ta Han Hsing had not recently exported food-grade lard, thus confirming that the products made from its lard did not meet food regulations, and from 10/10 they were removed from the market across the board. Then, after the FDA inquired four times about the grade of the beef tallow, it has still received no response to date; in response, the FDA and health bureaus across the country are investigating all manufacturers using this beef tallow and carrying out a precautionary removal of the products from the market across the board.
According to the progress of the investigation by the Food and Drug Administration and the county and city health bureaus up to noon today, Ting Hsin imported a total of 18 batches of beef tallow between 6/21 of year 102 and 7/4 of year 103, which were made into 8 beef tallow products and flowed to a total of 14 downstream manufacturers, which made a total of 11 products; so far a total of 9704 kg has been removed from the market. (as in the table below)
As for the coconut oil that Ting Hsin imported from Ta Han Hsing, a total of 110 tonnes was imported in year 101; since it has all now exceeded the nine-month shelf life, it is only roughly known that it was made into cream balls and baked goods, but these have all already gone into people's stomachs.
The FDA's latest discovery is that oil products from Vietnam's Ta Han Hsing company flowed into Ting Hsin's beef tallow products; during years 102 and 103 there were 18 batches totalling 2476 metric tonnes, which over the two years were made into 8 products (as in the table below)
