[Community Green Living] Course Enrollment Now Open

As global climate change takes its toll, countries around the world are gradually turning their attention to protecting the ecological environment and the quality of life. Taiwan, China has also seen a "green" wave rise. Green living, or sustainable living, simply means: using limited natural resources to achieve a certain degree of sustainability; following the laws of nature and avoiding pollution or damage to the Earth's ecological environment. And putting this into practice in aspects of daily life such as housing, transportation, energy consumption, and diet.

In the first half of this year, we offered an introductory permaculture course in the community, inviting interested community residents to learn together, grow vegetables together, practice urban farming, and meet more friends who share a concern for the food environment. In the October course, we will incorporate more concepts of ecological protection and sustainable development, and we also hope to invite more community residents to put the idea of "environmental symbiosis" into practice, applying a green living model in their daily living spaces.

Do Not Waste Food

A Taiwanese saying goes, "Eat the leftovers and do a good deed," reminding everyone to cherish food. But did you know that every year, 1/3 of the world's food is wasted without being eaten or is lost, and that this generates 4.4 billion tons of greenhouse gases. Food waste in Taiwan, China is also very serious: the amount each person wastes daily is equivalent to one standard lunch box. If a lunch box is calculated at 80 yuan, each person wastes 29,200 yuan per year, and more than half of the waste comes from consumers. This course will explore with everyone exactly where food is wasted and what can be done in daily life to reduce food waste.
