Children's Summer Camp Recommendation: Suwari Warrior Experience Camp
This summer vacation, the Kenting National Park Headquarters is working with the Lide Community Development Association to hold a two-session, three-day, two-night children's summer camp: the "suwari" Warrior Experience Camp. This is a summer camp tailor-made for lively, active elementary school children. "suwari" is a Paiwan word meaning the fierce falling wind. The first day opens with a walking tour of the estate, riding "Kongming carts" to visit Manzhou's historically valuable Jingzi Pavilion, the You family old house, and the Mandarin Training Institute, leading the children to understand the human history hidden in Manzhou, taking in the rural field scenery along the way, and also visiting the home of Tomoko's grandmother from Cape No. 7. Flower and leaf rubbing is truly original botanical art, letting the children show off their artistic talent and layout skills. As the dim light of dusk arrives, the fireflies of the night welcome all the warriors to the gathering.
The second day begins with making natural, non-toxic jelly by hand and DIY traditional toys, leading the children to understand the life wisdom of their ancestors and explore the Olive River, then using the "blind men and the elephant" approach to experience the forest by touch without sight; each team, led by experienced "suwari" elder-level warriors, sets out on a mountain-forest wilderness survival experience, and through digging sweet potatoes and finding wild vegetables, seeks out local flavored ingredients to cook and enjoy themselves. Of course! On midsummer nights the "fireflies" are never absent, and after enjoying the warriors' unique flavored dinner, they visit the little spirits of the night.
On the third day, the community's all-out "Super Saiyan Arena" welcomes everyone to come and take on the challenge. It includes: beginner-level kick the can, jump rope, big wind blows, playing marbles, bamboo pole dance, eagle catches the chick, and advanced versions of pushing hay bales, five-gate tree climbing, walking on stilts, flying kites, three-legged race, and centipede race. Finally, "suwari" works magic to "turn trash into gold," leading everyone to collect "fallen leaves" for DIY, and take home a souvenir "leaf vein bookmark" as a memento.
This is guided by ecological environment education, wilderness experience and observation, and community cultural tours, carefully planned by the Kenting National Park Headquarters and the Manzhou Township Lide Community Development Association, creating a summer camp that cultivates the ability to observe wild ecology and glimpse the life wisdom of ancestors. The "suwari" Warrior Experience Camp will be held in two sessions, on July 25, 26, and 27 of year 102 and August 08, 09, and 10 of year 102, at a cost of 3,800 yuan per person. For details, visit the Kenting National Park Headquarters official website (http://www.ktnp.gov.tw) or call 0985800823. Online registration is accepted from now on, with 40 places per session.
