Although the Taichung City Government said the anti-nuclear march was a "protest," and the lawn in the Civic Square was due for maintenance that day, so it could not be lent out. This morning, the Central Taiwan Anti-Nuclear Action Alliance still announced at the Civic Square the route of the 3/8 Taichung anti-nuclear march and the highlight of the "ten-thousand-person formation" activity, and displayed the limited-edition props prepared for the anti-nuclear formation, explaining the carefully designed challenge activities for that day! Hsieh Wen-chi, director of the Taichung chapter of the Homemakers United Foundation, also reminded friends joining the march to be sure to bring their own water bottles with plenty of drinking water (barreled water is available for refills at the service desks at the starting and finishing points), to protect themselves from the sun or keep warm, to prepare dry rations, and to bring homemade signs and props, so that parents and children of all ages can get the hang of their first civic action.

Taichung Wilderness is serving this year as the organizing group for the parent-child brigade. Chapter head Yu Yung-tsang said that Wilderness parent-child group families will take to the streets to speak out for their children's future and for all life, while Hsieh Wen-chi, director of the Taichung chapter of the Homemakers United Foundation, also called for big hands to hold small hands and together say "for the children, no nuclear power," and reminded friends joining the march to be sure to bring their own water bottles with plenty of drinking water (barreled water is available for refills at the service desks at the starting and finishing points), to protect themselves from the sun or keep warm, and to prepare dry rations, and to bring homemade signs and props, so that parents and children of all ages can get the hang of their first civic action. At the scene, more than a dozen young mothers and fathers from Dali, Wufeng, Caotun and Nantou appeared together with their young children, pushing strollers, calling on parents to bring their children to join the anti-nuclear march and fight for a safe, nuclear-free tomorrow for their children's future.

[LGBT people also oppose nuclear power]

Representative Kuo-shu of the Taiwan Gender Equity Education Association said that the government has delayed same-sex marriage on the grounds of 'lack of public consensus,' yet plans to operate the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant before public consensus has been reached. For LGBT people who care about both basic human rights and environmental safety, there is no choice but to join the anti-nuclear movement. In the 3/8 anti-nuclear march, the Central Taiwan Anti-Nuclear Alliance is organizing an LGBT brigade, with handsome gay men and elegantly dressed transgender people taking to the streets together to express 'oppose the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant, support LGBT people.'

[Anti-nuclear challenge games, learning through fun]

Where is Taiwan's high-level nuclear waste from nuclear power plants stored? How many atomic bombs' worth of radiation is in high-level nuclear waste? How long can you live standing next to a barrel of high-level nuclear waste? 3/8 will tell you everything! Tseng Fang-yuan, executive planner of the Humanistic Education Foundation, said that after the march reaches the City Hall Square, parents and children can take part in the anti-nuclear challenge activities arranged by the foundation, which will use lively question-and-answer formats to tell the public about knowledge related to nuclear energy, bringing the nuclear energy issue closer to daily life and highlighting the importance of opposing nuclear power. Each challenge station will also hand out different small gifts, and everyone is welcome to come and play.
