(1) Field treasure-hunt battle
Every spring farming season, before rice seedlings are transplanted, friendly-farming farmers can often be seen with a plastic bag hanging at their waist, picking up golden apple snails in the fields. This little creature, commonly called the golden treasure snail, is the rice farmer's greatest natural enemy, but in order to produce healthy, good rice, friendly small farmers hand-pick the golden apple snails to protect the young seedlings. You are welcome to come hunt for treasure in the fields, pick up golden apple snails, and through hands-on effort feel the true meaning of 'every single grain is the fruit of hard work.'
(2) Lunch made with local friendly ingredients
We will give priority to locally grown fresh ingredients cultivated without pesticides, so that the abundance of Lanyang produce and the wisdom of the ancestors can be presented to you at the table. These are Lanyang dishes you can only taste on this trip! Not only will you eat your fill, you will eat with finesse, free from worries about today's food safety issues.
(3) Making bowl rice cakes (wakui) and sweet potato balls
Bowl rice cake, which Hakka people call 'shuibanr,' is usually made with pickled radish, minced meat and other ingredients added to make the flavor richer. But this time we hope everyone can taste the purest original fragrance of rice, so we make it using only organic zailai rice milk; when finished, dip it in a little soy paste or chili sauce, and the springy texture plus the sweet fragrance of rice lets you taste the original flavor of the food. Make delicious sweet potato balls yourself, and you won't have to worry about the problem of toxic starch!
(4) Green living exchange (making waste-oil soap or eco-friendly enzyme for cleaning)
Most households use commercially sold chemical cleaners, which harm health and pollute the environment. On this trip we will guide everyone in making simple waste-oil soap, which can be used to wash dishes, scrub floors and more. This way you can easily become a green-living expert in your daily life who recycles and reuses while reducing harm to the environment!
