(Comprehensive report) The Health Promotion Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare released a new survey today: 95% of junior high school students drink at least one sugar-sweetened beverage every day, and as many as 55% drink at least 2 a day. A 700-milliliter cup of bubble tea has as many as 550 kilocalories, equivalent to the calories of 28 sugar cubes, making it easy to take in too many calories, leading to overweight and obesity and increasing the risk of chronic disease. The public is advised to drink more plain boiled water, which saves money, cools you down, quenches thirst and is healthy.

The Health Promotion Administration's 2012 (Republic of China year 101) "Junior High School Student Health Behavior Survey" (valid sample size 6,373) showed that 95% of junior high school students drink a sugar-sweetened beverage at least once a day; those who drink 2 a day account for 55% of all students. And according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "Nutrition and Health Status Change Survey": adults take in an average of 141 kilocalories a day from sugar-sweetened beverages, high school students 200 kilocalories, junior high school students 156 kilocalories, and elementary school students 119 kilocalories. This shows that junior high and high school students are the largest group consuming sugar-sweetened beverages.
