What causes a Clivia (Clivia miniata) not to bloom

1. Mismatched nutrient elements

This plant has different requirements for nutrient elements at different stages of development. During its growth period, it is best to provide nitrogen and potassium fertilizer; during the reproductive period, because the reproductive organs will absorb part of the nutrients, if there is too much nitrogen fertilizer and too little phosphorus fertilizer, then the leaves of the plant are very easily elongated, while the flower buds cannot differentiate normally, affecting blooming.

2. Improper water control

This plant must have sufficient water to develop normally. Moreover, the root hairs of this plant need water to dissolve the nutrients in the soil before they can absorb them. So we must water reasonably, otherwise too much or too little watering will cause damage to the roots, which in turn makes it difficult for the plant to absorb nutrients and prevents it from blooming.

3. Unsuitable light

Because the light duration in this plant's place of origin, South Africa, generally does not exceed 13 hours, and we grow the plant indoors, and the indoor lighting shines for too long, the plant can only grow and cannot carry out flower bud differentiation, so it cannot bloom.

4. Unsuitable temperature

This plant's favorite growing temperature is 11°C to 17°C, and the bearing of flower buds has relatively strict temperature requirements. Once it is too hot or too cold, it will cause poor development of the plant, thereby affecting its bearing of flower buds.
