Introduction to the Characteristics of the Cymbidium 'Peach Blossom Fairy' Variety

      The cymbidium "Peach Blossom Fairy" is a new variety discovered in 2001 on Peach Blossom Ridge in Liangnong Town, Yuyao, dug up by orchid enthusiast Old Li and selected and bred by Yuebai Fengqing and Chen Songhu. After being brought down from the mountain, it was kept and passed around among only a few orchid enthusiasts, and in over ten years it bloomed again only once. In 2016, Peach Blossom Fairy finally bloomed normally again, and 16 years of anticipation finally came true! This reblooming was made possible by the careful cultivation of Mr. Huang Wei of Shanke Caotang, allowing us to catch a glimpse of its beauty.

      Looking at this flower, the leaves are slender, the flower stem is tall and upright, making the flowers and leaves appear harmonious; the flower stem is straight, standing gracefully, making it seem ethereal and fairy-like; the flowers are spaced openly, the stems turn appropriately, the flowers drift gracefully, delicate and elegant, appearing charmingly graceful!  This flower's transition from red to green is quite well achieved, the flowers are emerald in color, the flower size is about 5 cm, with waves of delicate fragrance, making one feel relaxed and joyful. The greatest feature of this flower lies in its center: soft petals and a large ru-yi tongue (somewhat close to a square tongue), with neat red patches on the tongue, and the outer petals drifting gracefully, coordinating well with the center, very pleasing to look at, and quite possessing the charm of an old Fengqiao just opening. A flower form like this is rarely seen even among traditional varieties. The petals will open after being open for a long time!
