How to make a purple bamboo bonsai? This way it looks more artistic
Selecting materials
This is the first step, and also a key step. If even this is not done well, it will inevitably be impossible to create a very good work. We had best choose those robust purple bamboos with beautiful plant form; those sickly plants definitely will not do.
Carrying out dwarfing
This step mainly has three methods, introduced one by one below.
The first is dwarfing through propagation. The specific method is: bury the plant's bamboo rhizome in the soil, then cover it with about five to ten cm of soil, then pay attention to controlling humidity. Done this way, the bamboo after growing up is much shorter than normal, and looks very elegant and graceful, with a kind of beautiful quality.
The second is dwarfing through shoot peeling. We may have observed this kind of phenomenon: when we peel off its outer sheath, its internodes correspondingly become shorter. This method also follows this procedure; when the plant grows to about twenty cm, it can be carried out. Once the internodes become shorter, the whole plant becomes shorter.
The third is using chemicals. We can choose to spray during the plant's vigorous growth period to inhibit it, or carry it out through injection; the effects are both quite good.
Transplanting and management
After the previous step, it can be transplanted, but at this time it is not directly put into a pot, but rather into an outdoor environment close to the pot.
Next, we can prune the plant, which can avoid too many branches and leaves consuming excessive nutrients, and can also make our bonsai look better.
Then comes the formal transplanting into the pot. We should choose a pot with good drainage performance, and the time had best be late spring.
After transplanting comes management: it cannot lack light or water, and some manure or cake fertilizer should also be applied.
