How to Propagate Cassava with Variegated Leaves? A Few Practical Methods

Flowers & Gardening By Emily Carter 0 views

1. Growing Environment

It prefers a warm growing environment and plenty of light, is relatively intolerant of cold, and is very afraid of frost. At the same time, the cultivation environment should be neither dry nor wet, mainly ensuring sufficient sunlight. Especially when overwintering temperatures are low, move the plant indoors to ensure it does not stop growing due to temperatures that are too low. Because the plant has strong growth ability, when the plant grows to about 20 to 25 cm, pinch off the growing tips and propagate by division, so as to maintain a plant form that is graceful in appearance.

2. Cuttage

The time is generally best in spring, from April to May, when the new buds on the stems have just begun to grow. New branches with good growth should be selected. First, cut the branches into 10 cm sections, then leave them in the sun to let the moisture in the branches evaporate completely, then wash and dry them. The suitable temperature for the rooting medium used for cuttage is 10°C to 20°C. After cuttage is completed, growth on its own can begin in about 20 days.

3. Seed Propagation

Planting can be carried out as soon as seed collection is completed. If planting is not done in time, the seed survival rate will become lower. Sow the mature seeds in the sand bed used for propagation and maintain the humidity at between 25 and 30 degrees. After sowing is completed, germination generally occurs in 10 to 15 days, and transplanting can be carried out after 1 to 2 months, followed by seed propagation again.

Its function is that it can absorb turbid air from the air, has the effect of purifying the air, and can also make the air fresh. At the same time, placing the plant indoors also gives it strong ornamental value. It also does not require frequent care, has extremely strong growth power, and is simple to cultivate.
