A balcony garden with a hundred percent turn-around rate - build one yourself
Making Process
Find a small bottle of a suitable size and use its curved shape as a template.
Cut out an arc with a strip saw; of course, a flat edge works too.
Make the flower box (actually a flower trough) and add reinforcing supports inside.
Because the inside is in direct contact with soil and stays fairly damp, the assembled flower trough needs to be painted.
Trial installation: hang the flower trough on the windowsill.
Drill a few drainage holes in the bottom of the flower trough, then use hooks and eye screws to hang the flower box under the windowsill.
Collect a few climbing vine leaves as templates, and cut out the "leaf" shapes from the templates
Spray the "leaf" patterns onto the flower trough with green spray paint.
This way the outer wall of the flower trough puts on a "camouflage suit."
Line the bottom of the flower trough with an old window screen to keep soil from leaking through the holes.
Pour in the potting soil.
Place the small flowers and adjust the spacing and combinations.
The flower box with the small flowers planted is quite easy to hang under the windowsill.
This is the flower box seen from indoors looking out.
The finished flower box - the little flowers look so comfortable in there~
Design Points
1. If the window needs to open, hang the flower box under the windowsill with hooks so the window can open easily; if it does not need to open, or the window moves up and down, you can place the flower box above the windowsill line.
2. Make the flower box from rot-treated fence wood strips, 15 cm wide and 0.5 cm thick, which is inexpensive.
3. If the wood strips are fairly thin, add reinforcing supports inside; if the boards are thicker, no reinforcing supports are needed.
4. To keep the flower box from looking stiff, cut small arcs into the upper part of the flower box to make it look playful and cute.
5. If the wood strips are rather rough, sand them before painting.
6. Suitable for growing fairly short herbaceous flowers.
