Improper watering when growing flowers in winter, and your flowers are beyond saving

1. Crab Claw Cactus (Schlumbergera, XIEZHALAN)

Watering time: between 9:00 and 15:00

Watering cycle: generally in winter, between 10 and 15 o'clock, the potting soil will dry out; once you notice the edge of the potting soil has dried, just water thoroughly. Because the environment differs from place to place, you need to adapt as conditions change.

Water quality: use low-temperature water at around 20 degrees; when it blooms in winter, the buds will not wither. Generally speaking, watering crab claw cactus with tap water will not cause any problems, but if conditions allow, still let the tap water sit for a period (1~2 days) before watering.

2. Asparagus Fern (WENZHU)

Watering time: between 16:00 and 17:00

Watering cycle: asparagus fern can hold out even longer, so watering roughly once every half a month to a month is no problem; feel it with your hand, and when the potting soil is slightly dry, it is time to water.

Water quality: freshwater that contains no salt, alkali or other harmful substances is best. Tap water should be left to stand for 1~2 days so that the water temperature is close to room temperature before use.

3. Clivia (JUNZILAN)

Watering time: water when the temperature is above 10℃

Watering cycle: water when dry, withhold when wet; stick firmly to this principle. If you cannot be sure whether it is dry or wet, you can dig out a little of the potting soil and take a look; this is a clumsy method, but it is a very effective one.

Water quality: give priority to rainwater, snow water and river water; if you only have tap water, it must be left to stand for 1~2 days before use.

4. Succulents (DUOROU)

Watering time: on sunny days, between 10:00 and 14:00

Watering cycle: when the minimum temperature is around 10℃, stretch out your usual watering frequency; when the temperature is below 5℃, control the water and just water a small amount along the edge of the pot.

Water quality: do not use water freshly drawn from the tap; if the area where you live has a lot of rain and snow, you can usually collect more rainwater and snow water. You can also let the water for the flowers stand for 2~3 days before watering. The water temperature should be similar to room temperature, otherwise the succulent roots cannot take it.

5. Gardenia (ZHIZIHUA)

Watering time: watering at midday is fine

Watering cycle: when the surface of the potting soil becomes dry, it is time to water, but the amount of water should be less than before; alternatively, after the potting soil dries, waiting a few more days before watering is also fine. During the winter dormant period, it is better to water a little less.

Water quality: ordinary clean water is fine; watering with tap water normally causes no problems either, but if conditions allow, it is still best to let the tap water stand for 1~2 days.

6. Radermachera (XINGFUSHU)

Watering time: between 10:00 and 16:00 is fine

Watering cycle: if there is no heating, once a month, and you can water until it is slightly moist. With heating, it is also about once a month, but you can water thoroughly. In addition, winter weather is dry, so you can often spray water on the leaves.

Water quality: just use tap water directly; radermachera is very tough.

7. Rose (YUEJI)

Watering time: it is best to water during the daytime.

Watering cycle: for roses planted in the ground, water once in November, and after that there is no need to bother. For potted roses, water thoroughly only after the soil has dried completely.

Water quality: roses are not very demanding about water quality, so tap water is fine.

8. Orchid (LANHUA)

Watering time: around 12:00 on clear, warm days

Watering cycle: "In summer and autumn it must not be dry, in winter and spring it must not be wet" keep this saying firmly in mind. In winter, keeping the potting soil slightly moist is enough; better to let it dry out than to water casually. When the potting soil is truly very dry, you can lightly spray the surface moist, but do not use a lot of water!

Water quality: rainwater and snow water are best; when the seasons change there is more rain, so it is best to store more of it; next, you can choose river water or groundwater.

9. Anthurium (LANHUA)

Watering time: in the morning and at noon on clear, warm days

Watering cycle: water when dry, withhold when wet, is enough; generally in winter, the moisture dries up in about a week, and at that point you water once, then wait until it dries again before watering; the amount of water should still be reduced, and it is fine to slightly extend the watering interval.

Water quality: when watering, the water temperature is best around 14℃. Try to choose slightly acidic water for watering. Tap water can be used after standing for 2~3 days. Rainwater is the best water source for caring for anthurium, so it is better to store a little more when it rains. Normally, you can use discarded cola bottles or mineral water bottles, fill them with tap water, let them stand for 3~4 days, and then spray the leaves of the anthurium.

10. Snake Plant (HUPILAN)

Watering time: 10:00~16:00 on clear, warm days

Watering cycle: after 15~20 days, the potting soil is about dry, and you can water once; if it is not dry, then do not water, and water whenever it dries. In addition, extending the time by a few days is no problem either, but when you water, you must water thoroughly; just watch the water slowly flow out from the holes at the bottom.

Water quality: snake plant is not demanding about water quality; tap water is completely fine~

11. Jasmine (MOLI)

Watering time: 10:00~16:00 on clear, warm days

Watering cycle: just keep the inside of the potting soil slightly moist (note, the inside; it does not matter if the soil on the surface is so dry it has hardened). Generally, a small amount of water every 2~3 weeks is enough, and you can pour it into the saucer.

Water quality: watering with rainwater or river water is fine; tap water must be left for a day or two before watering; occasionally watering with rice-washing water is also fine.

12. ZZ Plant (JINQIANSHU)

Watering time: on clear, warm days, 10:00~16:00

Watering cycle: the ZZ plant stores water relatively well, so watering after the potting soil has completely dried is also fine, but when you water, you must water thoroughly.

Water quality: the ZZ plant needs acidic to slightly acidic water; you can solve this by adding a small amount of vinegar to the water~

13. Money Tree (JINQIANSHU)

Watering time: 10:00~16:00 on clear, warm days

Watering cycle: water only after the potting soil has dried completely, and do not water too much. Usually keep the room temperature between 12~18℃, and watering once a month is enough.

Water quality: tap water is fine; if you keep fish at home, you can also water with aquarium water.

14. Spider Plant (DIAOLAN)

Watering time: between 10:00 and 16:00 is fine

Watering cycle: in winter, spider plants are generally not watered, but heated rooms nowadays are too dry, so you can supplement some water for it once a month. Hydroponic spider plants can have their water changed once a week.

Water quality: tap water is fine; spider plant is not demanding about water quality.

15. Pothos (LVLUO)

Watering time: between 10:00 and 16:00 is fine

Watering cycle: if you are in the north and have heating, you can keep misting and just keep the potting soil slightly moist. If you are in the south, you can feel the soil; as long as the soil is not dry, there is no need to water.

Water quality: you can use tap water directly.

16. Kalanchoe (CHANGSHOUHUA)

Watering time: between 10:00 and 16:00 is fine

Watering cycle: generally speaking, the potting soil dries out in about a week, and at that point you just water thoroughly, but because it is affected by many factors, the speed of water evaporation varies, so you still have to look at how dry the potting soil is.

Water quality: you can use tap water directly.

17. Aloe (LUHUI)

Watering time: between 10:00 and 16:00 is fine

Watering cycle: when the room temperature is low, water as little as possible; generally you can water once every 15~20 days, when the potting soil is about dry; in addition, if you cannot judge the amount of water well, you can use leaf spraying to keep the potting soil appropriately dry, which helps the aloe plant get through the winter safely.

Water quality: you can use tap water directly; aloe has always been very easy to grow~

18. Camellia (CHAHUA)

Watering time: between 10:00 and 16:00 is fine

Watering cycle: follow the principle of not watering until dry, and watering thoroughly when you do.

Water quality: when watering, the water temperature must be the same as the surrounding environment, or slightly higher than the ambient temperature. Using natural water such as rainwater, snow water and river water to water flowers is naturally the best choice; fermented rice-washing water also works.

19. Bougainvillea (SANJIAOMEI)

Watering time: between 10:00 and 16:00 is fine

Watering cycle: keeping the potting soil half dry and half wet is best.

Water quality: the water temperature must be the same as the surrounding environment, or slightly higher than the ambient temperature. Tap water must stand for 2~3 days before it can be used for watering.

20. Chrysanthemum (JUHUA)

Watering time: between 10:00 and 16:00 is fine

Watering cycle: chrysanthemums in the south can overwinter outdoors after being treated, while chrysanthemums in the north must be placed indoors; water only after the potting soil has dried, and the amount of water should be appropriately reduced.

Water quality: for watering, river water, pond water or stored rainwater that is low in minerals is best.

All right, one last reminder to all you flower lovers,

rainwater, river water and the like

must be unpolluted~
