What to Do When the Leaves of a Variegated Spider Plant Turn Yellow? Causes and Solutions
I. Causes
1. It may be that too much fertilizer was applied. If too much fertilizer is applied, exceeding the plant's needs for growth, then at first its leaves will become very glossy, but later the roots begin to rot, and then the leaves turn yellow.
2. Loss of nutrients. If the soil in the pot has been used for planting for too long, or if the soil in the pot is rather poor, once all the various nutrients contained in the soil have been used up and we have not promptly replenished nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, then the plant will lack nutrients, and the leaves will slowly change and also become thinner.
3. Too little light supplied. Although this plant is a semi-shade plant, it still needs at least 4 hours of indirect light every day; otherwise its chlorophyll will gradually decrease, and this causes the leaves to turn yellow.
4. The soil in the pot has rather poor air permeability and water permeability. If the soil in the pot has standing water for a long time and is not drained, then the plant's roots will find it hard to breathe, and its leaves will turn yellow.
II. Solutions
1. You should stop adding fertilizer immediately. We can water it with more clear water, or change the potting soil, to achieve the effect of diluting the fertilizer.
2. You should immediately replace the soil, change to fertile soil, and water with fertilizer water.
3. The potted plant should be placed in the sun for a few more hours, but be careful: it absolutely must not be exposed to too much sun.
4. You should loosen the soil in time, and also control the amount of watering well. Keep the potting soil moist and warm.
Having said so much, everyone has probably understood how to deal with the problem of yellow leaves on this plant. In fact, as long as you follow its needs, the problem of yellow leaves is actually very easy to deal with. I hope everyone can grow a relatively healthy plant.
