How to Grow Grape Hyacinth in Water? Detailed Methods and Care Tips

Flowers & Gardening By Emily Carter 0 views

1. Steps Before Water Cultivation

You can find a glass bottle and add a little clean water to it, but pay attention to the water level, making sure it does not soak the bottom of the bulb. Then choose some good grape hyacinth bulbs and place them about five centimeters from the mouth of the cup. Soak them in the water, then put them in a sunny spot. Once the sprouts grow to five centimeters, move them to a shadier place.

2. Temperature

Generally, hydroponically grown plants are best suited to a temperature range above 5 degrees and below 30 degrees. In other words, as long as the temperature feels comfortable to people, the plants will be comfortable too, and they can grow normally. So temperature is very important for them; never let it get too low or too high.

3. Light

Before its bulb sprouts, remember never to put it in direct sunlight. After it sprouts, place it in a spot with bright light, a bit of air circulation, and some sunlight, so it can grow better. At first, you can let it get one to two hours of light per day, then gradually increase it to seven or eight hours. If the weather does not change too much, it should bloom by spring. So light is very important.

4. Changing the Water

Usually when growing in water we add a little nutrient solution to it. Generally, in spring and autumn you can change the water about every five to ten days; in summer, about every five days; but in winter, every ten to fifteen days. The main purpose of changing the water is to keep enough oxygen in the bottle. Fresh water contains more oxygen, which keeps the plant healthier. If you do not change the water for a long time, they can still last for a while, but if it goes too long, the plant will not be able to take it, and in serious cases it may easily die. So be sure to remember to change the water.
