A Detailed Guide to Pest and Disease Control Methods for Hybrid Tea Roses
1. Powdery Mildew
Powdery mildew is one of the most common diseases of roses, and its harm is very great. Most of the time, the initial infection begins in late May, and by June and July it starts to spread continuously. After the leaves are damaged, a white powdery substance forms on their surface, and the young shoots do not escape it either. In severe cases, it can even cause the leaves to gradually fall off or even die. At this point, we need to carry out timely targeted treatment. During spring growth, we can alternately use certain medications to spray it appropriately. After spraying, the powdery areas will turn dark gray, gradually shrink, and disappear. During the autumn rainy period, which is precisely its peak outbreak time, the medication must be sprayed multiple times during this period to reduce the damage to a minimum and achieve direct and thorough control.
2. Black Spot
This is also one of the most commonly infected diseases of hybrid tea roses. Its residual bodies generally overwinter together with the hybrid tea roses, and with rainwater or when watering, they splash and spread, and insects can also spread it. Generally, the most suitable temperature for triggering the disease is around 26 degrees, and it is also more common in seasons with relatively high rainfall. Especially newly planted or weaker-growing plants are more susceptible to attack. Therefore, we should promptly clean up fallen leaves, remove diseased leaves in time, and in winter also carry out substantial pruning of diseased plants. When watering, attention must also be paid, and spray watering should not be used.
3. Aphids
Aphids also directly cause great harm to it. They suck the sap nutrients from the plant's tender buds, which directly causes the flower buds to grow very deformed, prevents nutrients from keeping up, and indirectly makes it prone to infection by other diseases. Therefore, we should promptly spray certain medications on the plants, basically once every 7 days, and spraying 2 to 3 times is enough.
