Reasons for Erica losing leaves and solutions
1. Unsuitable soil
Erica generally prefers somewhat fertile acidic soil, and its soil must also be relatively loose with good aeration. If the wrong soil is chosen when cultivating it, then it may easily drop leaves because nutrients cannot keep up or the roots cannot breathe well. If that is the case, then the soil needs to be replaced.
2. Unsuitable light and temperature
Erica favors somewhat cool and moist places, and also needs fairly abundant sunlight. It is not very afraid of cold, but it is very afraid of high summer temperatures. It generally grows best at temperatures between 15 and 35 degrees. Although it is relatively cold-tolerant, the temperature in winter must not be too low. In addition, in summer the temperature must not be allowed to exceed 35 degrees. If the temperature is too high, or too low in winter, it will become stressed and then drop leaves. Therefore, suitable temperatures must be ensured, and shade should also be provided in summer. Light is also very important; it must never be kept in a relatively dark place for a long time, as this will result in insufficient light, which will also cause leaf drop. We should place it in a spot with as much sunlight as possible.
3. Improper watering and fertilizing
Its demand for fertilizer is generally not very high, and fertilizing is usually done together with watering. If the fertilizer is too concentrated or too much, it will directly damage its roots, so nutrients cannot be transported and leaves drop. In addition, improper watering will also have an effect. When watering, the water should be treated in advance, and it is better to choose morning for watering. Although its fertilizer requirements are not high, adequate nutrients must still be ensured; fertilizer cannot simply be withheld entirely. Only in this way can it grow better and bloom more.
