What to Do When Gardenia Leaves Curl? Causes and Solutions
1. Cause Analysis
1. First, consider the daily care process and experiences your gardenia has gone through from the time you bought it until the leaves curled badly. It is very likely caused by insufficient water. When watering, the water needs to soak through thoroughly, but do not let water accumulate, and do not water too frequently.
2. Most flower seedlings that are bought have come out of a greenhouse, and the sudden change of environment will make them unable to adapt. Especially in autumn and winter, the temperature and humidity in the greenhouse are both high, evaporation is relatively high, and if water and temperature cannot be guaranteed, the problem of leaf curling will appear.
2. Solutions
1. Use the soaking method to replenish water
Prepare a relatively large basin, fill it with water, and put the flower pot into it. The water level in the large basin must be lower than the surface soil of the flower pot. The water will slowly seep into the soil along the rim of the pot, achieving the purpose of watering thoroughly. Do not pour water directly from above, otherwise it will not only be difficult to water all the soil layers thoroughly, but it will also easily lead to water accumulation. Especially in winter, this situation should be avoided as much as possible. Leave the flower pot in the water for one night, then take it out during the day the next day. After watering by this method, the plant will gradually improve. After that, refer to the dryness and wetness of the surface soil for the watering frequency; when it looks dry, you can replenish water.
2. Simulate the environment of a greenhouse
After replenishing water by the soaking method, use a spray bottle to sprinkle water on the leaf surface, then put on a plastic bag, or use plastic film instead. Placing it this way can simulate the moisture, humidity, and temperature in a greenhouse and reduce sudden environmental changes. With less water evaporation and higher temperature, all that is left is to wait for it to slowly recover.
3. Provide light
After putting on the bag, move the potted plant to a warm area with light, avoiding direct sunlight and exposure to strong sun, but it should have relatively good ventilation. If it is winter, it can be placed by an indoor window.
