What to Do When Gardenia Leaves Dry Up? Causes and Solutions

Flowers & Gardening By Emily Carter 0 views

I. Causes and Measures

1. The first case is a lack of iron in the leaves, so the green of the leaves is not a fresh green and may even be slightly yellowish; in severe cases the leaves dry up, and the whole tree may very well die.

If this is the case, you can spray some iron supplement solution at a ratio of 0.2 to 0.5%, which can successfully prevent and control it.

2. The second case is a lack of magnesium, which causes chlorosis, spreading from the older leaves to the new leaves; although the leaves are still green, in severe cases the leaves will also dry up and fall off.

If this is the cause, you can spray some 0.7 to 0.8% boron-magnesium fertilizer.

3. The third case is a lack of nitrogen; in this case its leaves will turn dry and yellow, and the leaves grow very small and brittle.

If this is the case, apply nitrogen fertilizer gradually in stages.

4. The fourth case is a lack of potassium; the leaves change from green to brown, and in these cases the leaves all look as if they have dried up.

If this is the case, apply potassium fertilizer gradually in stages.

5. Too much water, or too low a temperature causing it to freeze, will also make the leaves dry up easily, so you must take careful care of it.

If this is the case, change the soil and raise the temperature in time, and take careful care of it.

II. Points to Note

1. This flower prefers acidic soil, which allows it to grow very densely; if you live in the north, the soil is mostly alkaline, so your tree's leaves easily turn yellow or dry up, so if you buy a gardenia, you should grow it in acidic soil.

2. In summer, the light is very strong, and its branches and leaves are also prone to sunburn; if it lasts too long, the damaged leaves will dry up. So you should place it in a semi-shaded area, and do not pour water directly onto it; you can spray water on the leaves, and generally after about 15 days it will revive, but if all the leaves of your tree have dried up, then there is no way to save it.

3. If your tree's leaves have dried up, you need to readjust your care methods, pay frequent attention to the condition of its roots, do not water all the time, and wait until the leaves spread out before resuming normal care.
