Hydroponic Haworthia can speed up rooting

Many beginners growing Haworthia easily end up with leaves that become more and more shriveled and colors that grow more and more dull, looking terminally ill and about to die.

The reasons for this condition are, first, light that is too strong, and second, the roots of a newly purchased Haworthia not having recovered yet. At this time, growing Haworthia hydroponically can speed up its recovery process.

Methods for growing Haworthia hydroponically

Method one: Hydroponic Haworthia is very simple. Find an empty beverage bottle and place it on as shown below. Be sure to pay attention to the water level; the roots must not all be submerged in the water.

Method two: Hydroponic Haworthia can be done with expanded clay pellets. This way both retains water and avoids constant soaking in water, which is somewhat better than simple hydroponics.

To grow Haworthia hydroponically with expanded clay pellets, first wash the roots of the Haworthia clean and prune the old roots and residual roots. Then place the plant into the container. Fill it with expanded clay pellets, then add water. Note that when adding water it must not cover all the roots; leave part of the roots exposed to breathe.

Precautions for hydroponic Haworthia

1. The technique required for long-term hydroponic Haworthia is very demanding, so it is not recommended for beginners to grow it hydroponically.

2. Hydroponic Haworthia needs nutrient solution applied. If you cannot accurately master the standard for fertilizing, then be sure to apply light fertilizer.

3. Temperature, especially in winter, when Haworthia is prone to frost damage, so keep the indoor temperature above 15 degrees.

4. Sunlight: be sure to remember to give Haworthia sun exposure, otherwise, look at the Haworthia in the picture below and you will understand.
