To kill scale insects, use alcohol

Scale insects will parasitize the branches and leaves of flowers for a long time, and are especially common on succulent leaves. They cause the leaves to turn yellow and wither, and can also lead to sooty mold. Once scale insects are found, they must be eliminated promptly.

Steps:

1. Buy medical alcohol

Buy a bottle of medical alcohol. Alcohol can draw the water out of cellular proteins, causing the cells to dehydrate and die, and it is very effective at killing scale insects.

2. Dip a cotton swab in alcohol and wipe the leaves

If there are only a few scale insects, find a cotton swab, dip it in alcohol, and gently wipe the leaves with scale insects. After wiping 3 times, the scale insects will die.

3. Spray the leaves with alcohol

If there are a particularly large number of scale insects, put the alcohol into a spray bottle and spray it toward the leaves with scale insects. Spraying 2-3 times can not only kill the scale insects, but also thoroughly kill the larvae that are invisible to the eye. Note that windows should be opened for ventilation when spraying.

To kill aphids, use wood ash water

Aphids have strong reproductive ability and are mostly seen on Chinese roses (Rosa chinensis). As soon as aphids appear, they should be killed as early as possible.

Steps:

1. Dilute wood ash with water and spray the branches and leaves

The ash left after burning dead branches and leaves is wood ash. Add wood ash to clean water to dilute it. The ratio of wood ash to water is 1:5. After dilution, put it into a spray bottle and spray it onto the branches and both sides of the leaves.

2. Spray once every 3-5 days

Spray once every 3-5 days. Spraying 2-3 times in a row can kill all the aphids.

To kill red spider mites, use soapy water

Red spider mites are one of the common pests when growing flowers. They suck the moisture from the plant, causing the leaves to turn yellow and curl, and in severe cases can cause the flowers to die.

1. Cut off pieces of soap and melt them in water

Cut a few pieces of soap and put them into hot water to melt into soapy water.

2. Spray the branches and leaves with soapy water

Then add 50 times as much clean water to the soapy water, put it into a spray bottle, and spray the leaves, stems and other parts. Note that both the front and back of the leaves should be sprayed, once every 3-5 days.

To kill snails, sprinkle a handful of salt

Snails feed on the tender leaves and petals of flowers and are mostly seen in humid environments. If flower lovers see snails on their flowers, they should not be soft-hearted.

Steps:

1. Sprinkle table salt around the flower pot

Sprinkling table salt around the flower pot can prevent snails from crawling into the pot, because snails will dehydrate and die when they encounter table salt.

2. Table salt can also kill other mollusks

Besides snails, table salt can also kill other mollusks. This is because the skin of mollusks contains a lot of water, and contact with table salt causes the skin to dehydrate, and in the end they dissolve into liquid and die.

To kill whiteflies, use laundry detergent water

Whiteflies have strong reproductive ability and suck the moisture from stems and leaves, causing the leaves to wither and turn yellow. Once they are found, they must be eliminated early.

Steps:

1. Mix laundry detergent with water and dissolve it

Add 800 times as much clean water to 1 gram of laundry detergent, and stir quickly to dissolve it thoroughly.

2. Spray the branches and leaves

Put the diluted laundry detergent water into a spray bottle, then spray the leaves, once every 3 days. After spraying 3-4 times in a row, the whiteflies will basically all be dead.

To kill fungus gnats, use mosquito coils

Many flower lovers report that when flowers are placed indoors in winter, fungus gnats often appear around the flower pots, gnawing on the flower leaves and harming the health of the plants, which is very distressing.

Steps:

1. Soak mosquito coils in water and use it to water the roots

Mosquito coils contain dimefluthrin, which can kill fungus gnats and their eggs. Take one mosquito coil, put it into 2-3 liters of water, and soak for 24 hours. Then in the evening, when the fungus gnats burrow into the soil, use it to water the roots. Note that all the soil should be watered thoroughly.

2. Burn mosquito coils to fumigate and kill fungus gnats

For the fungus gnats flying around in the air, you can light a mosquito coil, place it in the flower pot, and use a plastic bag to cover both the flower and the burning mosquito coil together, so that the fungus gnats resting on the flowers can be killed.
