What to Do When White Bugs Appear on the Jade Plant? A Detailed Guide to Prevention and Control Methods
Scale insects
The first possibility is "scale insects". They mainly damage the leaves, branches and other parts of this plant, so if it is this kind of insect, we may find them on these parts.
To control this kind of insect, if the number is not too large, we can directly remove them with a toothpick. However, if the number is so large that we cannot remove them all quickly, the first choice is to spray some chemicals, such as a 750 to 1000 times dilution of Jie Bi Zhi solution, spraying once every two to three weeks, although this method may cause pollution to the soil. Of course, to eliminate pests, we can also use their natural enemies to strengthen control, which causes less harm to the plant and soil compared with chemical solutions. Another approach is to strengthen care and management, such as applying fertilizer reasonably and scientifically to enhance the plant's disease resistance; we can also prune regularly and improve ventilation.
Aphids
The second type of insect is "aphids". They often appear on the leaves, terminal buds or young stems of the jade plant. They suck the plant's sap, and in severe cases can cause the branches and leaves to wither or even the entire plant to die. Because they reproduce very quickly, their harm is very great, so they must be discovered early and controlled early.
To deal with this kind of insect, we first need to cut off and properly dispose of the parts damaged by the insects. In addition, we should also spray some insecticides, such as Ya Shi Jing, imidacloprid, and so on. However, it should be noted that because aphids have relatively strong pesticide resistance, we can alternate the use of multiple solutions.
