What to Do When Clivia Leaves Grow Unevenly

Flowers & Gardening By Emily Carter 0 views

1. Regularly Adjust the Position

This plant is usually placed in one of two ways: parallel to the balcony window, or perpendicular to the balcony window. It is worth noting that no matter which placement method is used, we should regularly rotate its facing direction 180 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. During the peak growing season, this regular cycle can be once every 7 days, and during the slow growing period, once every 10 days. Because uneven leaves are mostly caused by uneven lighting, this requires us to regularly adjust the placement position.

2. Manual Adjustment

If unevenness has already appeared, we can adjust it. You can use a small clip to clip the already crooked leaf together with the upright leaf next to it. To prevent the clip from pinching and damaging the leaves, we should place a tissue in between. After roughly a period of time, the crooked leaf can basically recover.

3. Light Control

This method is relatively simple. We can prepare a few sheets of opaque tin foil or other opaque thick paper, and cut them to the same width and length as the leaves. Then fold the paper lengthwise in half from the middle, use the paper to wrap half of the leaf that has already become crooked, and finally use transparent tape to stick the paper tightly to both sides of the leaf. After about 10 to 15 days, the leaf that has grown crooked can be corrected.
