What to Do When Gardenia Leaves Wilt? Causes and Solutions
1. Control Humidity
It does not like places that are too cold or too hot, and it has certain requirements for humidity and temperature. Too much water or too much heat will both have a negative effect on its growth. Because its roots are very afraid of water, if too much water accumulates in your flowerpot, its leaves will also wilt.
If your gardenia leaves have already wilted, first think about whether there is too much water. If that is the cause, reduce the amount of watering, and even when you do water, wait until the surface soil is dry. If it is due to a lack of water, just add water in time. It has relatively high requirements for water quality and cannot use hard water. After noon in summer, water it more, otherwise it will easily look listless.
2. Increase Light and Keep Warm
If it is not often exposed to sunlight, the leaves will also easily wilt, so put it in a place where the sun can reach it but the light intensity is not too high. If it is winter, also consider whether it has been frostbitten. If so, remove the damaged leaves, then wrap it with something, and it will recover in about two days.
3. Remove Pesticide Residue
This flower easily attracts small insects. For the sake of the flower's appearance and clean air in the room, people spray some chemicals to kill the insects, but many people do not control the mixing ratio well, and then the leaves are poisoned. In that case, wash the leaves with water to make sure there is no pesticide residue left. Of course, you still need to pay attention to pest control. Spray regularly and the leaves will grow healthily.
4. Change the Soil and Control Fertilizer
Some people do not control the ratio well when adding fertilizer to the leaves, and the flower's roots are burned, so the leaves wilt. At this time, you should replace the soil, but if your gardenia is about to bloom, you cannot do this. You can replace only half of the soil, then water it a little, and after that let it dry and it will recover on its own. This method can generally save it, but do remember that after flower buds have grown, you must never change the soil. If your plant's nutrition cannot keep up and too little fertilizer is applied, the leaves will also be listless, so the amount of fertilizer added must be well controlled.
