The correct way to water Clivia (Clivia miniata) with beer
1. The ratio issue
If we want to use beer to supplement the nutrients needed for blooming, then we must pay attention to controlling the mixing ratio of water and beer. This ratio is one cup of beer mixed with thirty cups of water. If you are worried about getting it wrong, you can prepare a graduated container and mix it according to the ratio. This prepared liquid will not harm the plant's roots, nor will it cause the soil to cake into slabs.
2. Fertilizer
As is well known, because plants generally take up nutrients in order to bloom, they need to be repotted and fertilized every spring. This plant is the same. When repotting in spring, we can take some beer and mix it with soil, then place this soil at the bottom of the flower pot, filling about one third of the position. This can effectively avoid root damage while also playing a nutritional role, and can also save us the trouble of routine fertilizing.
3. Timing control
This plant itself cannot be placed in a spot with direct strong light, because this will speed up the evaporation of water from the plant, and the leaves will turn yellow or even dry up, so we had best wait until after the sun sets before fertilizing. This timing allows the plant's roots to slowly absorb the nutrients they need, and will not cause the beer concentration to become too high and harm the roots due to rapid water loss.
4. Direct spraying
Some flower lovers like to wipe the leaves with water, which is both attractive and helps the leaves breathe. Likewise, beer can be used too. You can mix beer and water at a 1:20 ratio, pour the already diluted liquid into a spray bottle, and then spray it onto the leaves. This method can make the leaves more beautiful and the flowers more vivid. This practice does not require considering time or season.
5. Watering flowers according to the season
In the hot summer, beer cannot be used for watering, because water evaporates quickly and the temperature is high, which easily leads to pests and diseases. Because the plant needs to rest in winter, it is also not suitable to water it in this season. You can choose to fertilize in spring and autumn, the two peak growing seasons.
