How to make a pine bonsai? A step-by-step guide to teach you the process

Flowers & Gardening By Emily Carter 0 views

Step 1: Collecting the stump

The best time to collect the stump is at the Beginning of Spring each year, before all things revive. To avoid damaging its roots, try to dig it out with as much soil as possible, as this can improve its survival rate. After digging it out, all of its wounds must be wrapped up, and at the same time nearly half of its branches and leaves should be pruned off, which also helps improve its survival rate. At this point you must not be reluctant to prune.

Step 2: Planting

First is choosing the pot; a bowl-shaped pot should be used, and the size of the pot can be determined by the size of the collected stump. Before potting, it can first be grown in the ground for care, which helps it survive after potting. When potting there is also a little trick: on the first day put only 2/3 of the soil into the pot, then water it once; on the second day put all of the remaining 1/3 of the soil into the pot. This is to make the soil show more even and suitable moisture.

Step 3: Care

After potting, water it once more, then place it in a windless spot with light, but when it has just been potted it should still avoid overly strong sunlight; once it has survived, it can be placed in sunlight all day to grow. When the soil is on the dry side, you can water it. At the same time, spray its leaves with water every day.

Step 4: Shaping

If you want to shape it, you must wait until it has fully resumed growth before doing so. Just choose a shape suitable for its stump and prune accordingly. By no means do this too early.

The above are the basic production methods. Friends who are interested might as well make one themselves!
