How to grow lucky bamboo in water? Growing methods and precautions

1. The vase

A good vase not only makes the growing work more convenient, but also makes the bamboo you grow look more beautiful.

It is best to choose a transparent glass vase rather than an opaque porcelain one. This way, it is easy for us to observe what is happening inside the vase, and secondly, it will not reduce its ornamental value.

2. Temperature

We had best keep the room temperature between 16°C and 26°C, which ensures it can grow healthily.

When the temperature is lower in winter, it needs to be placed indoors or given certain cold protection measures. Otherwise, the water in the vase may well freeze and damage its root system.

3. Light

We need to provide it with a certain amount of light to ensure it can grow healthily. If there is not enough light, its leaves may also turn yellow and shrink, greatly reducing its ornamental value.

Because it does not need a lot of sunlight, just place it in a spot that is not very dark and has smooth ventilation.

4. Water

There are two choices for the water used in water culture of lucky bamboo: one is purified water, and the other is tap water that has been left to stand.

Purified water is pure water with no other substances mixed in. Using it to grow bamboo can ensure the bamboo will not suffer attacks from pathogenic bacteria in the water. However, growing with this kind of water has a certain cost.

Tap water needs to be prepared one day in advance and can only be used after standing for a day. This is because the water plant uses some disinfecting gases when supplying tap water, and these gases are slightly soluble in water. After the tap water has stood for a day, it can basically be guaranteed that these gases have already evaporated and will not harm the bamboo roots.

5. Flower fertilizer

Water culture also needs fertilizing. A certain amount of fertilizer can provide the nutrients needed for the growth of lucky bamboo and support its normal growth and development.

The frequency of fertilizing does not need to be too high; once a month is enough. For flower fertilizer, you can choose water-soluble fertilizer, or use nutrient solution instead. In addition, we can also put a few staples or an iron nail into the vase to provide it with iron, helping it grow better and faster.
