Perhaps because the places where Buddhists reside all feel extremely serene, and also because the people of the Buddhist faith have minds free of distractions, the succulents they grow also carry a touch of otherworldly charm.
During the first two days of the trip to Dali, autumn rain fell continuously, and mist and clouds, like a woman enamored of Cangshan, draped themselves in shifting postures along the mountain ridges of Cangshan. On the third day, starting from the horizon, the clouds finally revealed a few gaps, exposing a glowing bright blue sky. The gaps gradually widened, and against the blue sky backdrop, the clouds finally displayed a myriad of forms, transforming moment by moment.
Beside the national highway, the temple at Guanyin Pond opens its gates wide to the public, with the noise of horses and carriages before its door. To reach Jizhao Nunnery, however, one must first pass through a winding mountain road about 2 kilometers long, flanked by dense forests on both sides, which calms visitors' minds, tires their bodies, and silences their excited chatter. With Gantong Temple screening it from the front, it truly resembles a fairy detached from the world, dwelling deep in the mountains, drinking wind and dew, free and transcendent.
After passing through these dense forests and a stretch of stone-step mountain path, the mind has already become very quiet.
The entrance to Jizhao Nunnery is very unique. In several places in the nunnery, the paths pass through trees, and walking through them feels very deep and full of interest!
Two rows of orchids rather than bright red and green flowers give people not an intense but a fresh feeling!
After entering the main gate, one must first pass through a rather narrow space, then turn a corner to enter the courtyard, giving a feeling of sudden openness!
The succulents appeared first in a corner, like a prelude, a very stunning prelude!
In the central courtyard, Echeveria glauca was arranged into a Buddhist symbol
Each pot is very large!
The flower beds on both sides are also filled with huge Echeveria glauca. The beautiful rosette shape of Echeveria glauca matches the atmosphere of the Buddhist courtyard very well!
Some other succulent varieties are also placed around the courtyard
Placed on the wooden table
Entering the quiet tea room. This is a designed tea room, slightly stylish, yet allowing people to calm down!
Looking at the back mountain through the tea room window, a startling sight!
Jizhao Nunnery is very small, and one can finish touring it quickly, but it feels endlessly evocative, and feels different from all the temples visited before. Jizhao Nunnery is very distinctive, designed as a whole, with much consideration given to many details, incorporating a modern feel; some places are simple, some places are warm, no longer cold and desolate.
The small courtyard seems to have scenery to photograph everywhere, giving me the illusion of walking into a courtyard of great depth. The succulents play a unique role in it. Yunnan's climate is very suitable for growing succulents, and every succulent freely squanders its vitality; in the day-after-day chanting of Buddhist songs, they seem to receive the Buddha's blessing, fully displaying their beauty.
Don't tell me there are no precious succulents here; before the Buddha, all beings are equal. Beauty is felt with the soul, not measured with money.
On the way down the mountain, the beautiful Erhai Lake is seen from time to time!
I wonder if everyone has been touched by such an atmosphere?
