How to grow potted flowers and plants well? Most flower lovers will say: pay close attention to light, keep watering consistently, balance fertilizer, prune and repot when necessary, and give each kind of flower special care. But for those low-standard plant growers who live at a fast pace and just want some greenery at home, as long as the plants stay alive, it is best to grow some foliage plants that are unaffected even if you go away for many days. It really is low-standard "plant growing" and high-standard "plant choosing". Below, the editor introduces several indoor foliage plants that are hard to kill.

Dieffenbachia (Dumb Cane): a vigorous indoor foliage plant with easy, low-maintenance care. Its posture is elegant, and its plant form varies greatly, so it is widely used indoors. It can be large enough to stand alone on the floor, or small enough to decorate a table. The flowers are inconspicuous, but the leaves are very attractive, and it is suitable for many indoor spots with dim light. Those creamy-white leaves edged in green or speckled with green patches, the variegated Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema modestum), are even more eye-catching. Another advantage of Dieffenbachia is that it grows well whether in bright or dim light, and it can tolerate nearly three weeks of being neglected in care (forgetting to water it, and so on).

Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum): the spider plant is so famous not only because it is easy to grow, easy to propagate, and easy to bloom, but also because it has a special skill: it can effectively purify the air, so it often becomes the best choice of indoor plant for smokers. The unusual variegated spider plant, with silver, yellow and green intermingled, is even more likable and is suitable for virtually every indoor spot. They can grow in weak light, though semi-sun conditions are of course ideal. The spider plant's sturdy tuberous roots allow it to adapt to long periods of dryness. Someone did an experiment: without watering it for a month, it still survived, with no obvious adverse effects.

Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily): this tenacious tropical foliage plant, following the habits of its place of origin, likes plenty of water, yet it is able to endure longer periods of drought (at least it does not need to be watered on schedule like other foliage plants). With only a little direct light, the peace lily can produce snowy-white spathes, with the flowering period lasting several weeks. Ironically, it often blooms after a period of 10-20 days when you forget to water it. The peace lily's leaves are glossy and it grows vigorously, with strong vitality, and it can withstand the effects of many adverse conditions.

Indoor foliage plants that are easy to care for and hard to kill may also include Philodendron, Aspidistra (cast-iron plant), English ivy, Peperomia, Haworthia (gem plant), and some cactus-type plants.
