More and more people are getting into growing pothos. It is not only attractive, it also purifies the air and absorbs formaldehyde. But the problems we often run into while caring for it are yellow leaves, root rot, or sparse vines that grow very slowly. So what should we do about these problems?

1. Apple peel soak

The fruit peels left over after we eat fruit usually go straight into the trash. In fact, we can put them to use growing pothos. They are a healthy, pollution-free green fertilizer. Apple peel is the skin of the apple; it has a protective function and is nutritious, containing a large amount of nutrients such as vitamin C, making it just perfect for growing pothos.

Before using it on pothos, soak the apple peel in cold water for 1-2 days, which is essentially fermentation. Once the water has taken on color, you can use it to water the pothos or wipe down its leaves. Another method is to put some apple peel in the pothos pot: one layer of soil, one layer of apple peel, then another layer of soil, then more apple peel, stacking three or four layers like this. After a few months the apple peel rots down and becomes nutrients, and your pothos will not lack nutrition for a whole year!

2. Orange peel soak

After eating an orange, do not just throw the peel in the trash. Use it to make a nutrient solution for pothos. Orange peel has many uses: it not only removes odors, it can also be soaked in water to make fertilizer for pothos. Orange peel is rich in vitamin C and essential oils, and using it on pothos can promote rapid growth.

Mix orange peel with brown sugar and water at a ratio of 10:1:3, and seal it in a plastic bottle. Leave the plastic bottle in the sun to bake for about 2-3 months, and it will be fully rotted down. Then it can be used as an excellent fertilizer for pothos. It can also prevent yellow leaves and root rot, and within 1 month it will burst out of the pot!
