Marguerite Daisy Exploding-Pot Technique Shared: Blooms Into a Ball and Looks Amazing
After the Spring Festival the temperature gradually rises, and in Guangdong the marguerite daisy has already entered its decline phase; at this point in Guangdong it is no longer advisable to get new seedlings. The marguerite daisy in my large pot was started as a seedling last November, and since I am rather lazy I put the seedling straight into the large pot. The advantage of putting a seedling straight into a large pot is that it simulates ground planting and saves the work of repotting and frequent pinching. The specifications of my pot are: inner diameter 29cm, height 25cm.

After potting up, pinch the tips for the first time right away. Just stick it in the soil and water diligently and a new plant will grow. When taking cuttings you need to shade them; they wilt as soon as they are in the sun. For the first week water with plain water only. A large pot does not need frequent watering; water when dry and let it dry between waterings. I water once every few days. After a week you can start applying a little organic nutrient solution. I use Nidong nutrient solution diluted 1000 times and water with that. Watering when the soil is completely dry is very effective. When it grows until the crown width covers the pot rim and you cannot see the pot from above downward, pinch the tips a second time. The third pinching is when the first batch of flower buds appears: pick off the buds and continue watering with nutrient solution. When the second batch of buds appears, start watering with Nidong flower-promoting nutrient solution. In this way it is easy to grow into a big flower ball (note: fellow flower lovers need to use a pot as large as mine to use my method). After it blooms you need to water often; for flower promotion water 2 times a week, so it blooms for a longer time. This is the method for the large pot.
The following are cuttings taken from a large plant that survived, potted up 2 days before the Spring Festival as small flower balls
I forget exactly when I started the cuttings. If you want to distinguish varieties, use plug trays for cuttings and label them with names. Water every day to keep them moist so they root faster. These small flower balls are in a 1-gallon small pot and a 2-gallon large pot. Because by the Spring Festival it is already the marguerite daisy's flowering season, you cannot use too large a flower pot; if it is too large, even after pinching the tips what comes out is mostly buds and it is harder to form a ball. The method is roughly the same as above; I only pinched the tips twice and then let it bloom.
Finally, here is a pot of white petunia
