As the weather gradually warms up, hydroponic plants have become everyone's favorite way to grow flowers, especially when placed in the office, because they don't come with soil, so there's no need to worry about dirtying the desk or anything. But the water doesn't contain the nutrients found in soil, so if you don't add some nutrients for them, be careful, they won't grow! Today Huahua will tell everyone how to add nutrients to the water!
The problems we most often encounter with hydroponic plants are yellowing leaves and root rot. The cause of this phenomenon is that the low oxygen content in the water makes breathing difficult and the plants die; or the water temperature in the bottle is too high, causing the plant's root system to age; or because the water isn't changed for a long time, the water quality deteriorates and gets mixed with other substances, producing an unpleasant odor!
Everything in the world needs oxygen, and plants are naturally no exception. If the roots can't breathe normally, life naturally comes to an end. The simplest method is to buy oxygenated water to increase the oxygen content in the water. The frequency of changing the water should also be increased. If you use tap water, first put it under the sun to bake for 2 hours, then change the water.
Or you can find some fresh moss, crush it and filter out the juice, mix it into the water, then leave it in the sun for 3 days. Some algae will grow, and they will produce more oxygen through photosynthesis. This water can then be used directly to grow plants. Remember not to put the algae into the bottle as well, because at night respiration will make it consume the oxygen in the water!
Hydroponic plants must avoid direct sunlight, especially in summer. The plant can't withstand such high temperatures and will have its life cut short
The charcoal we commonly see is also a very good tool, because in water it can prevent rot and also purify the water quality. You just need to smash the charcoal into small pieces and put them in the bottle. When changing the water, remember to replace it with new charcoal. This can effectively prevent root rot and stem rot.
If the plant has already developed root rot, then deal with it promptly. First take the plant out of the hydroponic bottle, remove the already rotted parts of the root system, and also cut off the rotted parts of the stem.
Then soak the pruned plant in a disinfecting solution to sterilize it and prevent the healthy parts from becoming infected. The inside of the hydroponic bottle should also be disinfected in this way.
Finally, you can place the cleaned plant in the disinfected hydroponic bottle, then add clean water to grow it. You can also drip a few drops of nutrient solution into the water, which will promote the growth of the plant's root system!
