Many flower lovers ask Huahua in the backend, why has my kalanchoe been growing for several years and only grows leaves without blooming? It is not only kalanchoe; gardenia, clivia, snake plant and others also encounter this problem. Today, Huahua will teach everyone some wonderful tricks, guaranteed to make your flowers burst out of the pot every year from now on!
Kalanchoe
1. Insufficient light
Kalanchoe likes plenty of light. Some flower lovers worry that placing it on the balcony will freeze and damage the plant, so they keep the flower indoors for a long time. Kalanchoe lacking light has a weak, thin body, let alone blooming.
Trick: At least more than four hours of light must be guaranteed every day. At the same time, in order for the kalanchoe to grow evenly and set flowers beautifully, the direction of the flowerpot can be adjusted regularly.
2. Improper use of fertilizer
Sufficient fertilizer is a necessary condition for kalanchoe to grow and bloom. So some flower lovers give the kalanchoe a large amount of fertilizer all at once, only to outsmart themselves. These highly concentrated nutrients are hard for the flower to absorb. Kalanchoe cared for this way not only will not bloom, but instead will show yellowing leaves.
Trick: During the growing period, mainly apply nitrogen fertilizer to make the plant grow strong. Before blooming, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote flower bud differentiation, such as fish emulsion fertilizer and monopotassium phosphate.
Clivia
1. The flowering period has not yet arrived
It takes three to four years for clivia to grow from a seedling to its flowering period. If your flower has not yet grown up, then do not worry~
Trick: Care for it carefully and wait quietly for the flowers to bloom.
2. Insufficient sunlight
Clivia is a plant that likes shade. So some flower lovers are reluctant to let the flower see sunlight, placing it in a lightless environment for a long time. Wanting clivia to bloom is naturally impossible then.
Trick: Sufficient light is one of the conditions for clivia to bloom. But it must be noted that summer sun exposure will harm clivia, so be sure to provide some shade protection.
3. Not changing the soil for a long time
Some flower lovers ask, my flower has already been grown for four or five years, so it should bloom too, why still not blooming? Huahua wants to ask, think carefully, have you changed the soil for the clivia? Do you fertilize regularly? If the pot is not changed all year round and fertilizer is not applied regularly, the nutrients in the soil will become fewer and fewer, and it will be very difficult for clivia to grow healthily.
Trick: Change the soil for the clivia and add organic fertilizer to the new soil, such as peanut or sunflower seeds at the bottom of the pot. Qingming is coming soon, and this is a good time to repot clivia.
Christmas cactus
1. Light time is too long
Christmas cactus likes short-day conditions. Some flower lovers place the Christmas cactus on the balcony for a long time and do not take shade measures. With long periods of strong light exposure, it is very difficult to get the Christmas cactus to bloom.
Trick: Place the Christmas cactus indoors and take it out regularly for light exposure. Or cover the flowerpot with black film to reduce strong light exposure.
2. Unsuitable temperature
The suitable growing temperature for Christmas cactus is above 15°C, and the flowering period is from October to February of the following year. During this time, the outdoor temperature is generally relatively low, which is not suitable for Christmas cactus to develop flower buds.
Trick: During this period, place the Christmas cactus indoors and at the same time ensure the indoor temperature reaches above 15°C.
Camellia
1. Insufficient humidity
Camellia likes a humid, cool environment. Flower lovers in the north do not understand the habits of camellia and do not pay attention to timely spraying water to maintain the air humidity around the camellia.
Trick: In winter and spring, place the camellia pot in a south-facing place so it can receive sunlight. Pay attention to spraying water on the camellia on time to maintain the air humidity around it; the time after ten in the morning is more suitable. In hot summer, it is necessary to sprinkle water around the ground around the camellia every day to increase air humidity.
2. Unsuitable temperature
The suitable temperature during the camellia bud stage is 10-15°C, and its full flowering period is from January to March. But winter and spring often have cold waves, the temperature is unstable, and excessively low temperatures will cause frost damage to camellia, which is not good for flower bud formation.
Trick: During the day, place the flower in a warm place with sufficient light. After the temperature drops in the evening, move it indoors to prevent frost damage.
Gardenia
1. Improper use of water and fertilizer
When growing gardenia, if a large amount of water and fertilizer is applied, it is easy for the plant to only grow branches and leaves without blooming.
Trick: During the flower bud differentiation stage, pay attention to applying more flower fertilizer containing phosphorus and potassium
2. Light problem
Gardenia does not like strong light, but too weak sunlight will also affect the opening of gardenia flowers. Therefore, suitable light is most favorable for the opening of gardenia flowers.
Trick: In summer, place the gardenia indoors to avoid strong light; in winter, place the gardenia in a place with stronger light.
