Pothos should be an essential plant for the home. It can be said that when beginners practice growing flowers, they all first buy a pot of pothos to grow, because it is especially easy to care for. But some friends also say the pothos leaves turn yellow? Root rot?

1. Appropriate lighting

Pothos is a shade-loving plant and likes a hot and humid environment. It dislikes direct sunlight. If it is placed for a long time on a balcony or windowsill with direct sunlight, the leaves are very likely to become scorched and yellow. So pothos only needs a little bit of scattered light. It is also fine to usually grow it in a shaded place, but be careful that the care environment is not too dark.

2. Watering

Pothos relatively likes a hot and humid environment, but it cannot be watered too much either, especially in autumn and winter. Too much or too little watering can cause yellowing leaves. On warm, sunny days, water loss is fast, so the watering frequency can be once every two or three days; water when the potting soil is dry.

3. Soil choice

The soil used for potting pothos must be loose, fertile and well-drained. It is best to place a layer of small pebbles at the bottom of the pot to ensure the drainage holes are not blocked. Choose a mix of peat soil + perlite in a 1:1 ratio, and you can appropriately add some decomposed wood shavings.

4. Fertilizing

When too much fertilizer is applied, the tips of new leaves appear dry and brown, the leaf surface is thick and lacks gloss, and it is uneven and not spread out. When fertilizer is lacking, the color of young leaves becomes lighter, appearing yellow or light green, while old leaves are relatively normal or gradually turn from green to yellow. Therefore, pothos should be fertilized appropriately, not excessively.

5. Regularly clean the leaf surface

Some friends just pour water into the potting soil when growing pothos. With sufficient water and fertilizer, the leaves still always seem not shiny. Caring for pothos requires regularly cleaning its leaves. You can spray water directly, or wipe them with a moist soft cloth, and you can also spray with beer diluted in water, once every two or three weeks.
