I believe many people have grown spider plants, right? Not only are they easy to care for, but they also grow very quickly. Filling a pot is simply a piece of cake. Last spring I got a spider plant from my neighbor, and at the time it was only about twenty-some centimeters tall, but now it has grown to over a meter tall. Although spider plants are very easy to grow, getting them to fill a pot really does take some skill.

To grow spider plants well, you first need to understand their growing habits, and these are easy to grasp. Their root system is very strong, and they need fertile, moist soil. I used humus soil, and mixed in one-tenth sheep manure pellets (cow manure, chicken manure, animal manure, or cooked soybeans all work). Spider plants like a semi-shady growing environment; as long as there is bright light indoors, that is enough. But they do not like enclosed environments and need good ventilation and a humid growing environment.

The leaves of the spider plant like a humid environment; spraying water frequently can keep the branches and leaves tender green and plump. But when spraying, do not use only tap water; you can add a little nutrient solution or other compound fertilizer to the water, or you can add a little beer. Spider plants are fertilizer-loving plants. When watering, you can add 0.2% urea once every ten days, and after it dissolves, pour it into the pot, which can noticeably speed up the growth of the spider plant, but you must not add too much when using it; just a tiny bit each time is enough.

After growing for a year, a spider plant will produce many small spider plantlets. If you want to grow a few more pots, you can cut off the small plantlets and transplant them into flower pots, and they will take root and sprout within a few days. If you do not want to transplant them, you can place the spider plant on a taller plant stand or grow it hanging, and after about a year the small plantlets hanging below will form something like a waterfall, looking especially beautiful.
