Spring is deepening and the weather is getting warmer, which is exactly the growing season for plants, so many flower-loving friends choose to change the soil for their plants. But do not throw away the old soil; add a few things to it and it can surely be used again, which also saves the money for buying nutrient soil. Isn't that a good deal?

Disinfecting old soil

First, put the old soil out under the sun to bake for a few days, and pick out any remaining roots and such from the soil. Then use a small shovel to turn the soil over and see whether there are insects; if there are, be sure to take them out, or you can also spray some insecticide to kill the unseen insect eggs.

Composting the soil

The soil we have already disinfected above has no nutrients left after being absorbed by the plants, and its air permeability is very poor. In that case, we can add some coffee grounds, vegetable leaves, fruit peels and so on to compost the soil, which will surely make the soil full of fertility and make the plants grow lush branches and leaves.

First spread a layer of old soil at the bottom of the container, then spread some of the fertilizer to be composted, then spread another layer of soil, and repeat this action. After filling the container, pour an appropriate amount of water into the soil, preferably seal it up, and place it under sufficient light. Basically, after about 3 months it is just about ready. After opening the container, if you see that the soil has turned black, you can use the soil to grow flowers!

If the potted plant has already been sick, then the old soil should not be used again, because if it is not disinfected cleanly and bacteria remain, they will directly infect the new plant.
