Now the main text begins:

Everyone wants to have a succulent garden of their own. Spring is here, and many friends with yards are already eager to try, but do you know which varieties are truly suitable for ground planting in courtyards? Today the Village Chief will make an inventory of the succulent varieties most suitable for ground planting in courtyards~

Simply put, succulents intended for ground planting in a garden must meet the following characteristics:

1. The size must be large!

Because ground planting for landscaping is different from balcony assembly trays, the viewing angle is mainly the overall layout and combination seen from a distance, so small-sized succulents do not have an advantage~

2. Tough and easy to grow

Succulents for ground planting are certainly planted in large patches. Unlike the fine care on a home balcony, this is basically extensive management relying on the weather, so you must choose tough and easy-to-grow succulent varieties, otherwise subsequent care will be very troublesome.

3. Color coordination is also essential, after all, decorating a courtyard is for beauty. Without bright color combinations, it would be better to use green plants, right~

Let's start with the varieties suitable for ground planting. Overall, there are just these major series:

Sempervivum genus:

Highly recommend Sempervivum tectorum, Sempervivum 'Purple Beauty', and the common Sempervivum arachnoideum. Whether in terms of price or color combinations, these three varieties are already enough to support the decoration of a small area.

Most importantly, succulents in the Sempervivum genus have very, very strong vitality. They are not only drought-tolerant but also drought-tolerant, and most Sempervivum easily produce side shoots in clusters; their colors also show different states with the four seasons.

Kalanchoe delagoensis series: Kalanchoe 'White Lady', Kalanchoe 'Butterfly Dance' (Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi variegata)

Kalanchoe 'White Lady' and Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi variegata both belong to the Kalanchoe delagoensis series, but the difference is that Kalanchoe 'White Lady' does not produce many plantlets from the leaf edges like the Kalanchoe delagoensis series; basically, propagation relies entirely on beheading and cuttings.

Kalanchoe 'White Lady' and Kalanchoe 'Butterfly Dance' grow very quickly in ground planting. Especially after forming clusters, they are pleasing whether viewed from afar or up close. In particular, the variegated Kalanchoe 'Butterfly Dance' can simultaneously show three colors: green, yellow, and pink. It is very beautiful, not fresh flowers but better than fresh flowers!

Aeonium genus:Aeonium 'Sunburst', Aeonium arboreum 'Zwartkop', Aeonium 'Splendens'.

Succulents in the Aeonium genus grow very quickly and easily produce side shoots, and the roots and stems are generally relatively thick. Even so, it is still difficult for them to support huge flower clusters, which is why types like Aeonium and 'Zwartkop' easily grow thick and dense aerial roots - they are only for better support!

Aeonium 'Sunburst' changes very distinctly through the four seasons. In winter and summer, the color completely fades, making it no different from the ordinary red-edged Aeonium. But in spring and autumn, yellow gradually appears from the leaf center, and the leaf edges turn completely red, very beautiful; Aeonium 'Splendens' does not change color through the four seasons, and 'Zwartkop' only briefly turns green after shading in summer~

Agave series:

Aloe polyphylla, Agave, etc. This type of succulent is often seen used for landscaping in botanical gardens.

There are also relatively tough succulents such as Echeveria 'Topsy Turvy', Graptopetalum paraguayense, Echeveria 'California Sunset', Sedum adolphi, Dudleya, and Echeveria cante.

In terms of color combinations, we can also roughly select some succulents to recommend to everyone:

Red: Echeveria 'Ruby', Sedeveria 'Letizia', Echeveria pulvinata, Echeveria 'Red Cute Lotus', Kalanchoe thyrsiflora, Sedum rubrotinctum

Black: Aeonium arboreum 'Zwartkop', Echeveria 'Black Prince'

Yellow: Sedum adolphi, Echeveria 'California Sunset', Aeonium 'Sunburst', Sedum 'New Jade'

Green: Echeveria 'Topsy Turvy'

Blue: Echeveria peacockii, Echeveria 'Morning Light', Echeveria 'Blue Surprise',

Purple: Echeveria 'Afterglow Dance', Echeveria 'Afterglow', Echeveria 'Violet Queen', Echeveria 'Little Ball Rose'

White: Dudleya, Echeveria cante,

Alright, that's all for today's sharing. If you also have good varieties to recommend, please leave a message and share them with friends in need for reference~
