Growth Habits of Geranium
Geranium prefers warm winters and cool summers. Indoors in winter, keep the daytime temperature at 10-15°C and the nighttime temperature above 8°C, and it will bloom normally. However, the optimal temperature is 15-20°C.
Geranium prefers dry conditions and dislikes dampness. In winter, do not water too much; water only when the soil is dry, and avoid waterlogging. If the soil is too wet, it is unfavorable for the sprouting and opening of flower stems; long-term excessive moisture will cause the plant to grow leggy, the flower-bearing nodes to move upward, and the leaves to gradually turn yellow and fall off.
Geranium needs sufficient sunlight during its growing period, so in winter it must be placed in a sunny spot. If light is insufficient, the stems and leaves will grow leggy, the flower stalks will become thin and soft, and the inflorescences will develop poorly; if sunlight is insufficient, the buds often fail to open properly and wither prematurely.
Geranium does not like heavy fertilizer; too much fertilizer will make geranium grow excessively and hinder flowering.
