The leaf surface of Sinningia leucotricha is covered with dense white fuzz, just like velvet; the flowers are orange-red and tubular, with thick petals that also bear dense fuzz. Sinningia leucotricha seems inseparable from fuzz!

Other names for Sinningia leucotricha

Sinningia leucotricha also has a lovely name, namely "Queen of the Cliff". It is also called "Queen of the Cliff", "Moon Banquet", or "Yue Yan". It belongs to the genus Sinningia in the family Gesneriaceae and is a perennial succulent herbaceous plant.

Growth habits of Sinningia leucotricha

The Queen of the Cliff is native to Brazil. It is robust in habit, easy to manage, and easy to keep alive.

Spring and autumn are its peak growth periods; it blooms in April and May, and begins dormancy after December.

It can tolerate low temperatures of 5°C. Sufficient dormancy is beneficial for flowering the following spring. It is propagated by seed.

The seeds have a relatively short lifespan, so sow them immediately after collection, on a mixed medium of high-temperature-sterilized leaf mold and sand.

They germinate in 1-2 weeks at around 20°C. After germination, keep the medium moist, and transplant when 5-6 true leaves have formed.

Plants grown from cuttings do not easily develop a tuber.

Ornamental value of Sinningia leucotricha

The Queen of the Cliff is very beautiful in growth. Usually you admire its fuzzy leaves; the slender fuzz on the leaf surface closely resembles animal fur, making people unable to resist wanting to touch it,  and touch it again. Together with the plump tuber exposed outside, it adds even more charm and cuteness.
