Habits of Echeveria runyonii
Echeveria runyonii is a succulent of the genus Echeveria in the Crassulaceae family, and summer is its peak growing season.
Echeveria runyonii is native to Mexico and likes a warm, dry environment with plenty of sunlight. The suitable growing temperature is 18~25°C.
Echeveria runyonii is not cold-tolerant, so move it indoors for care in winter and increase the temperature appropriately. It tolerates partial shade and drought, and fears waterlogging. During the growing season, watering once a week is enough.
Echeveria runyonii is a full-sun plant. Apart from needing appropriate shading in summer, it can receive full sun in the other seasons.
Care Tips for Echeveria runyonii
Watering: Water once a week during the growing season and keep the potting soil dry. In winter, water 1~2 times; depending on the room temperature of the plant, the amount of water can be increased appropriately.
Fertilizing: Fertilize once a month during the growing season, using diluted cake fertilizer or a special succulent fertilizer. When fertilizing, do not splash the fertilizer liquid onto the leaf surface, so as not to burn the leaves and affect their appearance.
Care location: Potted Echeveria runyonii can be placed on a sunny windowsill or balcony for care. Provide appropriate shading in summer, and move it to a sunny, warm place to overwinter in winter.
Hydroponic care: Cut stems and leaves of Echeveria runyonii and insert them into a sand bed; after they take root, grow them hydroponically. Add a small amount of nutrient solution in spring and autumn; in the other seasons, plain water is enough.
Propagation Methods of Echeveria runyonii
Sowing: Select seeds that matured in the current year and sow them, keeping the temperature at 16~19°C; they will take root after 2~3 weeks.
Suggested planting combinations: Sedum adolphi, Sedum rubrotinctum.
