Flowers & Gardening By Emily Carter 0 views
Crassula is a succulent in the Crassulaceae family, genus Crassula, native to Namibia, Africa. It grows quickly and has strong adaptability, and also tolerates partial shade, but does not like water, so pay attention to watering less when planting. It is widely cultivated around the world. It is very suitable for planting in combinations, because its fast growth rate quickly covers empty ground.

Growth Habits

Native to southern Feizhong. Prefers warm, dry and bright light environments, not cold-tolerant, tolerant of drought and partial shade, afraid of waterlogging, avoid strong light.

Favorite temperature: 18-24°C

Watering: water once a week during the growing season

Light: bright light

Propagation: cuttings

Pests and diseases: brown spot disease, red spider mite

Combination suggestions: Sempervivum arachnoideum, Jingtongzi

Care Tips for Crassula

Potting soil: repot in early spring every year, using a mix of leaf mold, potting soil and coarse sand, with a small amount of bone meal added. In winter it enters a semi-dormant state, keep the potting soil dry.

Watering: water once a week during the growing season, and once every 2-3 weeks at other times, keeping the soil just moist.

Fertilizing: fertilize once a month, using diluted cake fertilizer water or "Huiyou" 15-15-30 special fertilizer for potted flowers. Do not fertilize in winter.

Pests: when indoor ventilation is poor, the stems and leaves may already be harmed by red spider mite; when this occurs, spray with 40% omethoate emulsifiable concentrate at 1000 times dilution.

Propagation Methods of Crassula

Cuttings: take them in spring and autumn for fast rooting and a high survival rate. Select relatively neat branches with scale-like leaves arranged tightly. Cut them into 12-15 cm lengths, insert them into a sand bed, at room temperature 21-24°C; they root 20-25 days after insertion, and can be potted up 1 week later.
